Ahl al-Bayt in Qur'an, Sunna and Islamic Tradition (International Symposium)

International Symposium for the 1400th year of the revelation of the Holy Qur'an
Ahl al-Bayt in Qur'an, Sunna and Islamic Tradition
17-18 December 2010 Istanbul/Turkey

Symposium Theme

Ahl al-Bayt (the household/the family) refers to the daughter, the grand children, the son in law and wives of the Prophet Muhammad. It is well known that they are distinguished people and have a special place in the heart of all Muslims without exception. These eminent people have played a historical role in spreading and true understanding of Islam, in the formation and development of Islamic sciences, and for the unity of Muslims.

We think that today their memory and legacy can also play a vital role in establishing the unity of the Muslims living in our country and the world as well. Therefore Marmara University Theology Faculty, The Foundation of Ahl al-Bayt and Istanbul Ahl al-Bayt Association for Solidarity and Spreading Science are jointly organizing an International Symposium on Ahl al-Bayt in Qur'an, Sunna and Islamic Tradition. We hope that this symposium will help Muslims to get together again around the love of Ahl al-Bayt.

Although the participation is restricted for invited presenters, the symposium is open for all academics who want to contribute to the subject. Those who are interested in the subject can apply to the secretary of the Symposium no later than 21st October 2010.
